Farm Bill Reauthorization

The farm bill is renewed every five years, and this year's revision is pending before the House Agricultural Committee.  The bill covers crop subsidies, conservation efforts, loan programs and food stamps.

 SCHIP Reauthorization

State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) is up for reauthorization. The decade-old program provides health insurance to over six million children.  The program covers kids in working families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but often can’t afford health coverage.  Reauthorization must occur by September or the program will cease to exist.  Current versions of the bill would allow an additional 3.3 million children from low-income families access to health insurance.
