Census Bureau Releases Kentucky

Child Poverty Estimates by County

On Wednesday, November 22, 2000, the United States Census Bureau will release Kentucky child poverty statistics by county. The release will include child poverty statistics for children ages 0-17 and children ages 5-17 as well as median household income for each of Kentucky’s 120 counties. The poverty estimates are based on information from the Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE) series of the U.S. Census Bureau, which provides annual state-level estimates of income and poverty (including child poverty).

Kentucky county data will be available through Kentucky Youth Advocate’s state interactive map at http://www.kyyouth.org/KYSAIPEStats00.htm (Homepage: www.kyyouth.org).

Debra Miller, Executive Director of Kentucky Youth Advocates, will be available for comments on Wednesday at (502) 875-4865.
